Reynolds Seeks 20 Percent Pay Boost for Staff
Madison AP Reynolds requests a 20 percent raise for governor staff in the executive office budget totaling 327,062 dollars, 20,273 more than the current biennium. The Joint Finance Committee questioned the size of boosts as hearings opened for 1963-65 agency requests. Wayne McGown said the governor's 14-member staff now earns 122,760 dollars annually, with the governor at 20,000 dollars. Republicans called the proposed boosts out of line with civil service raises and doubted a lump sum office appropriation. Reynolds also sought a 15,000 dollar contingent fund for entertainment and travel. Other departments hearing Monday included Crime Laboratory, Employment Relations Board, and Free Library Commission with notable increases.
