Tobacco King Dies At Westby
Martin H. Bekkedal 85 a longtime leader in Wisconsin tobacco died at his Westby home after a stroke. Born July 19 1862 in Norway he built a Westby tobacco business with L Bijur and Sons and later ran the operation with son Verdel. Survivors include two sons four daughters and seven grandchildren. Funeral services Friday at his Westby home and Coon Prairie church with burial in Coon Prairie cemetery.
