Texas chemist E H Digmowity proposes a pilot plant using lava heat from Paricutin volcano to produce cheap electricity. He plans a $17 200 project with Dr Francisco Garcia Junto of the University of Mexico, channeling lava to heat cobalt pipes and generate steam driven power.
Rome Ingrid Bergman denied a Hollywood lawyer's report that she will visit her daughter Pia in the United States this summer. She said she has not spoken with her attorney and remains pursuing legal permission for Pia to spend six weeks with her in Italy despite a prior court ruling.
Sally Holley an abolitionist born in Canandaigua New York and nicknamed the American Angel of the 19th Century will be memorialized at New Salem State Park on July 4. Rev C Townsend Tucker of the American Anti prejudice Society announced a sunrise program expected to draw about 2500 attendees for an intercultural celebration. Holley taught thousands of colored citizens and founded a school near Hodges Landing Virginia after the Civil War where she worked 23 years.
