Knowles Vetos Legislative Pay Raise Bill
Gov. Knowles formally vetoed the bill that would nearly double legislators salaries from 5400 to 9600 and set higher pay for leaders. He supported higher pay in principle but disapproved of the bills passage method and urged thorough study before action. The veto affects only the non civil service portion while the rest of the measure, including a new salary approval process, was approved.
