Madison Must Be Route Plan to Stop Lake Pollution
The Madison metropolitan sewage district was ordered to stop discharging sewage into Lakes Monona Waub and Kegonsa by June 1. The order, from the state water pollution committee, means piping effluent to the Yahara river below Lake Kegonsa locks. A July 7 meeting will decide if a court appeal is pursued. Estimates for piping range from 1.88 million to 4.25 million dollars.
