Peter Ripley, 30, of Hammond, drowned when his auto turned turtle into a creek between Hammond and Roby. Six companions were severely injured. survivors include Bernice Brackett, Frank Baker, Frank Bick, George Heiser, and Frank Betz Jr. The accident followed Irving Betz losing control of an electric interurban car racing nearby.

The bandits are thought to be hiding in Little Mountain caves near the Great Salt Lake shores off the Lucin cutoff.

Kiel June 28 The yacht Westward owned by Alexander Smith Cochrane of New York won her fourth successive race against top German boats in the Kiel regatta. German yachtsmen are convinced they have nothing in Westward's class.
The condition of Mrs. Jas. Schoolcraft Sherman wife of the vice president is reported as very grave at Johns Hopkins hospital Baltimore with the illness not yet disclosed. In Utica New York three Sherman sons say their father’s message indicates their mother’s condition improved today.

Madison Wis June 28 The free speech memorial of the graduating class of the state university will be erected on a four foot plot near the campus to be purchased from a local resident. Regents refused it citing implied criticism of policy and suppression of insurgency in the school. An eastern magazine writer allegedly prompted the plan and tailored the tale of its rejection for publication.
