An alderman assists in the arrest of a suspected Greek would be slayer after a man named Gus King claims his mother in law advised his wife to date other men. The capture follows public warnings and police pursuit. Authorities describe the case as ongoing with no further details released.
A Greek worker Gus King shot his mother in law Mrs. Fred L. Green at her North Salem road home. Green says King fired four shots, the first hitting her, the second misfired, the third aimed at his wife, and the fourth toward the door as the two women fled. King fled, was coaxed back, then arrested after residents insisted he was not at fault. Alderman Martin Rybold helped locate the gun and aided in the rapid police response. The case hinges on Green and King’s conflicting accounts of who brandished the gun first. The Green farm lies along North Salem road near the Q tracks.
Charles Poe, a crewman on the Meamer W. W., was brought here from Clinton Iowa last night with a broken leg. He was to be admitted to the La Crosse hospital for treatment.
Chicago, June 25. George Legg answered a call of beauty and paid eleven dollars in a daring robbery. A dash ing blonde asked directions to Fullerton Ave and rode with him in an electric automobile. At a lake shore spot two armed men robbed him, taking his money as the blonde sped away with the car.
New York June 25 Theodore Roosevelt returned aboard the Imperator and vigorously backed George W Perkins chairman of the progressive national executive committee whose resignation was demanded by Amos Pinchot over ties to big business. Roosevelt said Perkins has been a faithful steward of party principles and would not run for New York governor this fall. A Sagamore Hill conference with Roosevelt Perkins Douglas Robinson and Duell followed a late‑night statement attacking Wilson over alleged treaty blackmail payments.
Trempealeau county lies cut off from the outside world as a severe storm devastates farms.
