The Decorah vehicle swerved and struck Nawatzski’s eastbound car.
Manila says the insular legislature voted to bar women from voting for officers of the new commonwealth. Women who voted in May must gain 300000 votes at a special plebiscite within two years after the new government is instituted to regain the ballot.

Madison Wis Fi A state supreme court test of the Vaughan bill re creating the state code law to replace the recovery act declared unconstitutional by the court is expected soon. The bill was signed Saturday by Governor Philip F La Follette. A declaratory judgment as to the Vaughan act will be sought in view of the US Supreme Court NRA decision. Delegated authority in wiping the old recovery law from the statute books the state court held the legislature had no authority to delegate to industries the right to initiate and impose codes of fair competition. Lawrence C Whitter recovery administrator says the new law is constitutional because authority is given to the governor under definite limitations. Majority consent needed the Vaughan bill provided that no codes can be imposed upon a trade or industry without the consent of the preponderance of those affected. About 20 service trades and industries operating under codes under the aid law are expected to seek reinstatement of their codes. Under an amendment adopted in the senate and approved by the assembly farmers and airmen who choose to operate under a code are permitted to do so and are entitled to the cost of production.
Members of the Merchants and Manufacturers division of the Chamber of Commerce will meet at Hotel Stoddard offices Monday at 4 PM to decide sponsorship for a band or drum corps for a goodwill trip July 1 into Minnesota and Iowa. P J Yerly and H Burgess are general chairs. L C Halm leads the excursion. A Saturday announcement stirred city businessmen who look forward to visiting customers in 15 Minnesota and Iowa towns. Two men were killed when a monoplane crashed Saturday night into a vacant lot off Nassau boulevard in Garden City. The pilot, Albert Whitney, 45, a Garden City commercial artist with a transport license, was stunting at the time. The second man was identified as Floyd Brink, 30, a commercial artist from Flushing by Brink’s son Frank Whitney.
