New Clues In Sparta Murder Case Surface
New evidence in the Ingwald Peterson murder case emerged with Sheriff Olson and Bert Johnson involved. Dr. Oscar Kanner reported two knife wounds beyond a crushed skull and broken bones. The body was found near the Roberts farm on highway 16, with a blood trail suggesting dragging or crawling, along with a fountain pen hat and keys nearby. Olson testified Peterson rode with him the night of June before asking to be let out near a shuttle. Becker drove on to Tomah after leaving Olson in Sparta.

Call Off State Fair For 45
MADISON Wis The 1945 Wisconsin state fair was canceled Friday by the seven man board of agriculture. Milton H Button director of the state department of agriculture said the decision followed a request from the War Assets or similar transport board and said local fairs should be tried but were not feasible. The fair, slated August 18 to 26, would have marked a rare cancellation in 95 years with Civil War years and the 1893 Columbian exposition the only prior gaps. Registration funds will be returned.
