Lack of Federal funds Holds Up Nursery Project

The Soil Conservation Service in Wisconsin and Minnesota faces delays as no Public Works Administration funds have been appropriated. About 7,500 pounds of black locust seed will be planted this season, with the nursery housing 36,000,000 trees and shrubs of 24 species for erosion control and reforestation. Local crews were temporarily dismissed. 12 paid staff plus 48 CCC youths remain. Full staffing expected once funds arrive.
