City Public Schools Would Get $202,300 Aid Gain Under Provisions Of Assembly Bill 380-A
The proposed Assembly Bill 380-A would boost La Crosse city schools total aid to about 337,500 including state elementary and high school aid plus county backing. The measure, backed by the governor, envisions 19.5 million in education aid for 1949 and 20 million annually after 1950, with state integration and district classifications guiding allocations. It also outlines county and transportation aids and income tax funded support, while critics say the plan may misalign incentives and not reduce local taxes.
