Wisconsin sets 65 55 mph rural speed limits
The Rice sponsored bill ends a 20 year lapse and imposes a 65 mph daytime limit on rural roads and 55 mph at night in Wisconsin. Supporters cite safety gains though some doubt effectiveness and enforcement could be weak in sparsely patrolled counties. The measure follows a long policy push and replaces the previous 40 mph rule from 1927.
