Nine hundred graduates receive university diplomas at Madison in a ceremony that filled the hall with attendees. The farewell hymn sung by the Class stood out as the most impressive moment of the convocation.
A lyrical homage to Alma Mater praising the university as a fountain of aspiration and strength. The verse venerates the institution as a source of power and enlightenment, urging students to respond to its call with deeds and thoughts aligned to its ideals.
The University of Wisconsin marked the 1913 commencement with President Charles Van Hise delivering the address. George Wentwein John E Mangold and Harold M Wilkie represented the colleges of agriculture engineering and the law. The farewell hymn and diploma ceremonies followed with a public concert and alumni reception.

He may gain 350 000 from the Leland Stanford estate at his mother’s death. Mrs Hanson a Stanford relative opposed his claim and sought guardianship.
The body of Will Capper, 38, husband and father of three, arrived from Kansas City. He was killed in a quarrel over a woman Saturday night. his slayer was badly wounded and reported near death in a Kansas City hospital. Funeral held in Burnaby township cemetery. Capper had longtime ties as a mail carrier and left a wife and three children in Chippewa Falls.

A unknown man likely a molder was struck and killed by a passenger train near Racine Wisconsin, just north of the station. The crew did not see the impact and the body was found after the train departed.
