Money Creek Minnesota’s name origin and early settlement tales
Money Creek got its name after a man’s pocket book and its wet contents were blown into the stream by wind and never recovered. Early settlers include John Campbell and Nathan Vance who arrived in 1853 to establish mills and platted the village as Clinton in 1856. The community grew around the Money Creek Flouring Mill with a landmark Methodist Church dating 1857 to 1909 and a red brick school.
