Hear Views On Tax Plan
Madison Wis Gov Rennebohm backs a one half percent income tax bracket rise and higher cigarette tax to fund school aid and welfare buildings. Opponents warn taxes will depress the economy and advocate spreading out building needs without extra money. William Young hails plan as easy to administer and best for new funds. Senator Nelson questions a surtax, Thomas Fitzgerald argues for no extra funding and timing the buildout. Proponents cite a projected surplus of 48 million dollars next July.
