Alberts New Inspector Of Buildings
Louis N. Alberts of 1014 South 11th Street was appointed by Mayor J. J. Verdota to fill the new city building inspector post. The unanimous 18 of 21 aldermen approved, though Alderman Warren Smith argued for a one month delay to study the appointee’s record. The council had authorized the post by an ordinance last month. Housing and zoning matters dominated the meeting with several measures approved, including funding for emergency housing and an expanded heavy industry zone. A six month trial of parking meters was discussed, and an appropriation for Milwaukee’s centennial delegation was approved with opposition from three aldermen.
