Ray recaptured after dramatic Brushy Mountain escape

James Earl Ray was found by bloodhounds five miles from Brushy Mountain State Prison after a three hour chase ending a 54 hour escape that involved a wall ladder and six fugitives. Don Caylor was also captured hours later, leaving only Douglas Shelton at large. Officials hailed the manhunt as a major Tennessee event with Gov. Blanton briefed and Ray placed in administrative segregation pending a hearing.
