Siebert Fires No-Hitter For Cleveland In 2-0 Win

Sonny Siebert pitched the Indians first no-hitter since 1951, defeating the Senators 2-0. Carol Siebert was the first to know he would pitch a no-hitter, telling her husband before the game. Dick Nen walked in the fifth, Paul Casanova reached on an error in the eighth, and only three balls left the infield. The no-hitter follows Bob Feller’s in 1951 and Bob Lemon’s 1948 effort, with Siebert earning praise from teammates and staff as Cleveland moved toward success in a rough stretch.
