Trempealeau County Considers Old Age Pension Plan
Judge J C Gaveney urged Trempealeau County Supervisors to adopt an old age pension effective July 1 1935. The plan would draw a maximum 20 dollars monthly for financially and physically needy elderly spouses, with one third of costs to be covered by the state and the rest from the county general fund if state aid falls short. A advisory committee was proposed to assist. The discussion notes pension as relief rather than age based. Local residents Mr and Mrs Harry E Merritt visited O J Eggum and Miss Marion flee returned from Mason City business college.
