Squabble May Defeat Bill In Wisconsin Assembly
Madison, Wis., June 5. The weeklong clash in the Wisconsin assembly over the industrial commission bill pits Republicans against themselves on deputy commissioners while jeopardizing the highway measure by a motion to reconsider the road bill’s passage. Democratic opposition, asserting exemptions for civil service, could prompt a revival of the road bill with a hostile majority. Senator Owen proposes a bank deposits guaranty substitute urging a 1912 public vote on the issue.
