Methodist Social Worker Club Speaker in La Crosse
La Crosse Woman's Club held its final social day of the year on May 28 at the north side library. Miss Lydia Gerhart, field representative for the Woman's Society of Christian Service, spoke on Social Work Across the United States, likening social workers to artists who put lights in windows for those without hope. She cited Catherine in Washington, D C, a nine year old Marilyn on a southern reservation, and a moment in which a four year old boy sought schooling, illustrating how social workers help people find light and belonging.
