Waltons Get Tough Pollution Drive Fails in Senate
In Wisconsin the Izaak Walton league campaign collapses as the state senate approves a watered down pollution bill. The measure increases funding for the State committee on water pollution to 85000 yearly and permits hiring a chief executive officer. The bill maintains most fines and drops a mandatory state approval for sanitation and waste plans. Senator Kaftan led the fight to retain key provisions against the industry backed compromise.
