Railroad Commission rules and decision reach La Crosse as officials report city progress in improving transit service. The opinion mildly criticizes the company for holding a broad franchise to run where it pleases, yet citizens celebrate a victory in the fight for better line service.
Wisconsin Railway, Light and Power must run that La Crosse street segment from Eighteenth to Twenty-fifth streets on the Oak Grove Cemetery line at the same ten minute headway as the rest of the line. The commission found the service integral and not subject to abandonment without La Crosse common council approval.
Washington June 2 President Wilson today began a careful perusal of the evidence in the dynamiters case as the basis for his decision on their petitions for pardon.
Otto Bosshard for John Wendling says an appeal will move to the state supreme court after Circuit Judge Higoee upheld the police and fire commission. Wendling was discharged for using the police auto for nonwork, taking neighbors home after a dance and stopping at a brewery enroute. The case tests the commission's authority under the city charter and has muddled for years.
A fire yesterday noon partially destroyed the back porch of Dr. E. A. Gatterdam at 208 South Ninth and endangered the residence of F. W. Fox at 214 South Ninth. Two rear wood sheds, one for each property, were burned before firefighting apparatus arrived, causing about 290 dollars in losses.

Ninety eight bodies remain unidentified as the salvage continues from a naval disaster. Funeral arrangements for the recovered crew are set for next Monday with nine to be buried with honors by naval and military forces.

An electrical storm leveled the home of John Brown in Rockport Kentucky. Ras Brown 16 was killed, the mother and four other children were injured. The tragedy occurred June 2 as the storm struck.

The funeral for Mrs. Charlotte Rossberg who died Sunday morning at St Francis hospital was held this afternoon at 1 30 at the home 228 South Twentieth street and at 2 o clock at the German Lutheran church Rev J T Gamm officiated.
