Donors gift Hillview farm for La Crosse Normal school site
Fred Easton and Mary L. MacArthur donate ten acres of Hillview farm east of Myrick park for the Normal school site. They transfer to the state for 8000 dollars, then contribute the amount to the school for an annual training course or other state board of regents choice. The hilltop knoll offers panoramic views and slopes suited to the campus, with plans to move existing Easton buildings. The gesture is praised as public spirited, aiding a handsome state Normal school building to be financed at the next legislature session.
