Kennedy asks Congress to let ICC settle rail dispute
President Kennedy's plan to submit the rail wage dispute to the Interstate Commerce Commission for binding settlement remains on track. Railroad executives endorsed his formula to avert a nationwide walkout but warned the unions' work rules could trigger a strike at 12:01 a.m. next Tuesday if Congress does not act. The Association of American Railroads board of directors voiced unanimous support.

Car Hits Tavern at Grandad Bluff In Wisconsin
A car wreck at the base of Grandad Bluff damaged Bluff Side Inn at 2712 Main St. causing about 9000 dollars in damage. Driver Carl E Mullins, 19, Camp McCoy and Cleveland Ohio, and two passengers Michael F Mellick, 16, of 820 Main St and Pvt Robert Bates, 20, Ronkonkoma NY were taken to St. Francis Hospital with injuries. Mullins and Bates feared to have broken bones. Mellick suffered a broken left leg and concussion. Police say the collision occurred about 315 feet from Bliss Road as Mullins drove down the bluff.

Final Rites Held For Rep. Nygaard
Funeral services for Rep. Hjalmar C. Nygaard R ND were held at First Lutheran Church in Enderlin with about 1000 in attendance and 300 outside as 96 degree heat and sun bore down. Nygaard 57 died of a heart attack in Washington last Thursday. Seventeen representatives and two senators attended. Gov. William Guy led a North Dakota delegation including constitutional officers and about 40 legislators.

Caledonia Youth to Face County Court in Morals Case
A Caledonia juvenile, Steven K Mallory 17, will be arraigned at 10:30 a m in La Crosse County Court on charges of taking indecent liberties with a 14 year old La Crosse girl the evening of July 14 in a field north of Onalaska. Judge Leonard F Roraff waived Juvenile Court jurisdiction, allowing adult County Court charges. Also charged are Ardis L Nelson 19 and Ronald W Schroeder 18, both Caledonia, who waived preliminary hearing and were bound over to Circuit Court. All three are held in County Jail after failing to post 5000 bonds.
