Decorah Fire Chief Dies After Collapse At Creamery
Decorah fire chief Carl O. Danielson 54 collapsed directing a blaze at the Canoe creamery nine miles northeast of Decorah and died at a local hospital physicians citing a heart attack. Guy C Ellis a longtime railroad mail clerk died in a local hospital Tuesday. He lived in La Crosse since 1895 and served 35 years in government service including 25 years as clerk in charge. He helped found the La Crosse Garden club and chaired the Inter-State Fair fruit and produce division for 41 years. He married Jesse Havens in 1896 and celebrated 50th anniversary in 1946. Survived by wife a daughter and four grandchildren. one son Lieut Jack Ellis was killed in France in 1944. Funeral Friday at 3 pm at First Congregational church Birds chapel. Burial Oak Grove cemetery. Friends may call Sletten McKee South chapel Thursday 7 to 9 pm.

City Railroad Worker Killed In Yard Accident
Hiram Wells a 59 year old Milwaukee railroad switchman of long standing died after apparently slipping or being struck by rail cars during a grain car switching in the east yards near Clinton street. Two Persons Bruised In Vehicle Accident
County police reported an accident on U S highway 53 at Onalaska Avenue when a car driven by Frank E. Hamilton swerved off the road and struck a parked car owned by Mrs. Helen Hall. The two occupants of the Hall vehicle Mrs. Mary Groves and Mrs. Harry Walker suffered bruises and shock. Hamilton pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated, was fined $100 and costs, and had his license revoked for one year.
