Frank R. Bonsack 38 of 1603 Mississippi street drowned in a fishing mishap on the Mississippi near De Soto Saturday night. He owned a tavern at 217 South Third. A barge pushed by a De Soto boat carried two small boats when Bonsack stood to move and fell into the river. Despite a spotlight, rescuers could not reach him as debris hindered dragging until Sunday evening. He was born Oct 16 1912 in Burns farm and survived by his wife Inez Stortz, two children, two brothers, a sister and his mother.
