Train Derailment Near Windfall Injures Three Passengers
A Pennsylvania passenger train derailed east of Windfall injuring three of twelve coaches. The accident, blamed on a defective wheel on the sixth coach from the rear, sent the injured to Mercy hospital in Elwood. Banker Dies At Sparta
Richard E. De Witt 55 died of a heart attack Sunday at his Sparta home. He was assistant cashier of the Bank of Sparta born May 7 1895 in Sparta. A Navy veteran of World War I he worked for the Bank of Sparta until 1924 then in Montana and Milwaukee. He served on Monroe county rationing board in World War II and returned to Milwaukee before moving back to Sparta January this year to resume banking. Funeral services tentatively set for Thursday pending arrival of his son from Europe. Rites at Lanham's mortuary with Masonic involvement burial in Woodlawn cemetery.
