Fire at the Gateway Lumber company building at 201 Cameron avenue is believed to have started from an overheated stove in the garage. The blaze threatened Segelke and Kohlhaus warehouses and was controlled by 12 27 p m. Fire Chief George S. Hanson cited high pressure lines and the squad car radio as aiding rapid response. Three firefighters were injured while operations continued, with temporary offices moved and recovery of many vital papers reported. Telephone traffic spiked to over 30 000 calls during the incident.
