Blondie arrived with Gates and family from Port Arthur Texas and ran loose in a station yard as Gates’ car moved to a train to Pasadena. Gates and family have scratches and bites and three other dogs bitten by the same animal have developed rabies.
A natural gas explosion in downtown Portsmouth Ohio collapses an intersection. Dozens of workers over an abandoned cistern were blown into the air and trapped beneath brick and rubble while investigating a gas leak in a nearby cistern.
City Clerk Joe Sieger fronts nomination papers to seek another term in the spring election. He plans to run for the City Clerk position again.

Harry K. Thaw and his lawyers obtained an order from Justice Tompkins in White Plains delaying the habeas corpus hearing. The writ, issued last week, would have required Thaw to appear before a New York County judge for a mental evaluation but the order puts off that investigation.
