Gorenstein Here Ex Psychiatrist Dies
Dr. Lester M. Gorenstein 55 a La Crosse area physician and psychiatrist for about 20 years died suddenly while fishing near his Florida home. He opened his practice in 1939 at De Soto retired in 1965 and moved with wife Ruth Sherkow to Ft Myers Florida. Services set for Wednesday in Milwaukee with burial there. He is survived by his wife, son Ralph, two grandchildren and three sisters.

La Crosse Soldier Wallace Giesen Killed in Vietnam
Pfc. Wallace Lee Giesen 24 of La Crosse was killed in action in Vietnam after being listed MIA on February 7 during a patrol mission. Born March 27, 1943, he lived in Racine and Addison before returning to La Crosse. He enlisted in 1960, served in Germany 35 months, was home on leave in November 1967, and departed for Vietnam December 6, 1967. He is survived by his father William Giesen, a World War I veteran, and other family members.

General Still Confident Allies Will Win War

Talks Continue In A C Strike In Milwaukee 11600 Out
Negotiations between Allis Chalmers and the United Auto Workers continued in Milwaukee as 11 600 workers across four states were off the job since Saturday noon. Union and company officials reported ongoing talks with plans to resume after lunch as 1164 recognition and a 17 cent hourly raise remained core issues.

Japanese Ore Ship Freed From Panama Canal
A 746 foot Japanese freighter Shozan Maru carrying 51 806 tons of ore was moved from Gaillard Cut freeing the 50 mile Panama Canal after a grounding. Salvage crews pumped air to ballast tanks and tugs pulled the ship to a wider section. Traffic remains slow with one lock lane overhauled and delays anticipated as the canal widens to 500 feet.
