Edward D Loomis a longtime La Crosse resident died Monday after an illness following a stroke. Born March 21 1845 in Ripley New York he served in the Civil War era Navy. He and Cornelia Shumway married in 1863 and moved to La Crosse where they lived at 413 South Tenth Street for fifty years. Loomis helped found local YMCA and served as deacon of the Congregational church and sang in its choir for two decades. Survived by wife and three daughters Misses Alice Charlotte of La Crosse and Mrs George Fullerton of Duluth. Funeral to be held at the family home Wednesday at 2 o'clock.
Chester Willard a cook employed by BP admitted taking money he claimed were six nights wages. In county court Judge Brindley heard the larceny charge as $11 alleged stolen from the till. Willard said he took $10 and left a note claiming pay for six nights. The case was adjourned to February.
