Cease-fire Appeals Amid 15000 Vietnamese Casualties
In the first three weeks of the cease-fire, about 15 000 Vietnamese casualties prompted the United States Vietnam and Viet Cong to urge an end to hostilities. They demanded all armed forces cease combat activities and rely on negotiations. Article 4 of the Paris protocol was not included in the joint communique. Col Bui Tin accused South Vietnam of rejecting it. Casualty totals across sides were listed with North Vietnamese Viet Cong 6787 killed 195 captured.
