Washington economic stabilizer Eric Johnston studied whether to order a 10 percent wage ceiling amid a labor walkout over the national wage control plan. The wage board voted 6 to 3 for the ceiling, with labor members protesting as 70,000 woolen workers strike and unions weigh further action.
Gen. Omar N Bradley urged transferring four more American divisions to Europe to bolster defenses in Germany, arguing it would markedly aid Western forces if Russia attacks. Secretary Acheson said Western Europe could double its defense forces within a year and linked Spain Turkey and Greece to NATO plans while stressing no firm troop commitments were made beyond allied ententes.
Madison lawmaker Rudolph Schlabach proposes a bill requiring a $20,000 public liability policy before licensing a car. His son David, a Milwaukee DMV examiner, faced license loss after an accident when he could not prove financial responsibility. The bill also enforces 30 day insurer notice before policy cancellation and voids plates if canceled. A parallel measure by Rep. Gettleman exists.
About 70,000 CIO textile workers walked out at 160 wool and worsted mills including American Woolen plants in Lawrence Massachusetts and mills in Passaic New Jersey. Union demands include a 15 cent hourly raise from a $1.17 to $1.42 minimum with cost of living adjustments and pensions.

One resolution would amend the constitution to allow reapportionment, the other defines new Senate and Assembly district makeup. The study was led by Marvin B. Rosenberry. The resolution sets Senate districts by area and population and assembly districts by population, with crossing county lines allowed in assembly districts.
Madison lawmakers held a hearing on Assemblyman Molinaro's bill to repeal the Wisconsin fair trade act. Supporters said repeal would curb monopolies, while opponents argued the law protected small business and kept prices fair.
Dangerous glare ice grips La Crosse and much of the north central plains as freezing rain dominates travel conditions through Friday night. Officials urge staying home unless necessary with extreme caution, noting several traffic jams, stalled trucks, and limited bus service amid subfreezing temperatures.
Associated Press reports Hal Boyle won the 1950 Omar N. Bradley award for distinguished national security writing. Gen. Bradley praised Boyle as a soldier's friend and noted Boyle’s Korea front dispatches and military reporting while Boyle lauded the American Eighth Army.
