Senator Augus tus Octavius Bacon of Georgia died this afternoon after a prolonged illness. He had fallen in his home state, then developed two broken ribs and kidney disease. Bacon, born October 26 1839 in Bryan county Georgia, was a longtime senator and chairman of the foreign relations committee. If the family agrees the funeral will be in the senate chamber at 11 o'clock Tuesday morning.
James Stone and Son and Alexander Rose announce the incorporation of the La Crosse Garment company with $15,000 capital and about twenty five employees. The firm plans to manufacture women’s aprons dresses and kimonos, start within a month, and seeks a suitable factory location in La Crosse. Mr Stone previously engaged in similar work in Chicago.
J. C. Wolford was re-elected president of the Trades and Labor council for six months at a meeting last night. All officers were re-elected except sergeant at arms, with John Rae as vice president and organizer. August Freimark named financial secretary, J. J. Serres treasurer, Joseph J. Verdota record secretary, George Dengall guide, Henry Kowalke sergeant at arms.

Margaret Holden Thomason, a La Crosse resident since 1858, died at 10 this morning at 136 South Eighth Street. Born May 31, 1829 in Boston, she married James Thomason in 1849 and later moved to Milwaukee and then La Crosse. Survived by husband, two daughters, three nieces, and one nephew. Funeral Monday at 2 from the residence with Rev. Carlos Rowlinson officiating. Interment in Oak Grove mausoleum.
A daytime blaze in Minneapolis caused 3100,000 damage to the North ern Manufacturing pickling plant and damaged nearby structures. E P Howe, 72, rushed inside to save Miss Rose Schultz and is believed to have perished in the effort.
Ida Groff, 89, of Boulder Colorado, spent ten winters in bed to avoid cold. She died of old age after a lifetime of frail health. Her fear of drafts kept her in a feather bed each fall until spring, ending today.
