A report notes little chance of a settlement over a ball matter between opposing clubs and appears centered on the Eau Claire dispute. No settlement appears likely as tensions remain in the club community.
At a Wisconsin curlers meeting in Portage the Wisconsin Curling Association was formed with L J Tucker Pardeeville named president and J H Wells Portage as a speaker on its value. The plan calls for a Portage bonspiel late January or early February and aims to enroll ten local clubs across the state with trophies for three main events and a consolation.
Toledo O Feb 17 Manager Armour says he has heard nothing about the Baltimore story that Roaring Bill Clarke will become part owner of the Baltimore club. Clarke remains the property of Toledo and would need freedom to manage Baltimore. Armour is open to a reasonable understanding and would let him go. Armour also announced Abbott, the local crack backstop, has returned his signed contract.
Wells forfeited the Portage bout against J E Jones. T J Wells from Portage scored 11 points while L J Tucker of Pardeeville had 10.
Jacob Schaefer has accepted Willie Hoppe challenge for the 8 1 balk line billiards championship. Schaefer deposits 250 to bind the match. Place not announced but likely Chicago, Schaefer's home town.
Ames, Iowa Feb 7 Nebraska is negotiating with Ames for a football game at Lincoln on Thanksgiving day If scheduled Nebraska may also play Wisconsin in Omaha the Saturday before Thanksgiving The Ames decision is unclear and Nebraska may offer the date to Wabash if Ames declines
J C Crockett of Eldora reading clerk of the United States Senate has served three years as clerk of the Iowa Supreme Court. A former actor with notable reading talent, Crockett is a Galena Illinois native and a leading Masonic member.
Antigo high school basketball champions of northern Wisconsin meet local high school in Appleton. A victory would boost Antigo into the Lawrence University state tournament to be held here in April.

Detroit coach president Navin stated the Tigers will not finish worse than second and warned the pennant race will hinge on avoiding defeats by New York. He said if any team could beat Detroit to the flag it would be New York.
