Wrecked Southern Minnesota train plunges into Root River near Rushford
Two coaches of passenger train No. 23 on the Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul line left the track two miles west of Money Creek and three miles east of Rushford at noon today. The smoking car tumbled three times into the Root River as the baggage car also fell in. About twenty passengers were injured, with none seriously hurt, while Conductor Wallace Kingsley directed rescue efforts. A relief train from La Crosse rushed doctors to the scene, but most injured had already been taken to Rushford.
