New York joined Kentucky Virginia and Maine as the fourth state to get an initial bonus for restricting outdoor advertising along interstates. The one half of one percent bonus funds rural interstate construction, with rules limiting on and off premise signs within 12 miles and allowing informational signs and informal law signs. Sixteen other states have signed agreements with the Bureau of Public Roads and Wisconsin and North Dakota are listed among those with billboard controls.
