Banger residents protest to authorities in Madison over a disputed road project. The action aims to force the commission to keep a local train service and addresses concerns about travel to LaCrosse and West Salem. Community members voice frustrations over road access and business impact.
Bangor and West Salem residents protested Milwaukee road removal of eastbound train No 2 delaying La Crosse access. The Wisconsin railroad commission was notified and will hold a public hearing if the service is not restored. La Crosse merchants plan a joint meeting to draw a formal protest and campaign to reinstate the train.
A major blaze in Clarksville Tennessee today destroyed two full business blocks causing an estimated $250000 in damage. A fifty mile per hour gale fanned the flames aiding rapid spread.
Temperatures yesterday ranged high 28 and low minus 6 with .12 inches of precipitation. Forecasts call for fair conditions tonight and Thursday with a rise in temperatures. Minnesota expects colder east and warmer west, then fair days with increasing temperatures. A passing storm moved from the central states toward the St Lawrence valley bringing rain and snow and high winds before clearing and much lower temperatures.

Count August de Castellane Seymore of Paris travels through La Crosse with a boy, Hans Vedte, claiming to seek a $5,000 reward for guiding him to Thibet. He says the boy’s father cattle-raises in Thibet and lost $275 which was found at a local lunch.
Carl Schulte, 25, who had been divorced a month, gained entry to his former wife’s home in Freeport on December 30 and shot her, possibly fatally, before turning the gun on himself and dying at the scene.
Local plan to fill the Black River mouth from La Crosse River to the old railway warehouse aims to secure permanent wharves. Mayor Ori J. Sorensen outlined a plan to Congress’s John J. Three miners died and five were injured in a slate fall at the Greenville mine today in Greenville Kentucky. The dead are Mc Clelland Kyle Frank Murphy and Joe Reynolds.
