Henry Heil dies after vigorous, active life in La Crosse
Henry Heil a longtime La Crosse shoe merchant died at 4 pm after a pneumonia illness begun around Thanksgiving. A German immigrant born March 17 1834 he came to America at 19 and settled in La Crosse 50 years ago. He built the Heil Shoe company at Fourth and Main, was active in the board of trade and Turn Verein, loved the outdoors and athletics, and left two sons Fred in La Crosse and Gus with Gimble Brothers in Milwaukee.
