Cleveland Firms Help Laid Off Workers Seek New Work
The Apex Electrical Manufacturing Co of Cleveland and the Permold Co of Medina plan to reassign workers as government credit restrictions force layoffs. Apex cut 300 workers two weeks ago with 400 more to go by January 1, 1949, due to Regulation W lowering consumer credit. The company runs a placement bureau with IAM officials to find new jobs, placing 15 so far and scheduling 40 interviews.
