Farm Bureau urges livestock bargaining agencies
The American Farm Bureau Federation says livestock marketing shifts require farmers to form bargaining agencies to secure better prices. It notes 85 to 90 percent of Western meat animals go directly to packers, a rise from 1925 when terminal markets dominated. A cooperative marketing group could handle bargaining. Midwest state presidents study cooperative marketing to boost prices.
