HUD Blocks Lease Break In Gateway Harborview Plan
HUD will not permit the La Crosse Redevelopment Authority to cancel Gateway Products Corp. lease on Harborview Plaza though disposition talks may open a path. Gateway bought the property for 234000 dollars plus 241560 dollars in fixtures, leasing at 2500 monthly with no cancellation clause. The lease runs to September 1, and Gateway seeks early release in exchange for delaying the final 155560 payment to earn interest. HUD conveyed its negative decision to authority executive director Charles Parrott this week and will issue a formal written reply later. A separate item notes a 17 year old boy was stopped for shoplifting a 54 cent incense box at Kmart on State Road 2425.
