Chicago report says Walsh went to the bank at 10:30 and refused to talk. He appeared confident and smiled when asked if he feared criminal prosecution.
Grace Taggart reportedly holds about 80000 dollars in the Equitable trust as her near total fortune. The report notes Walsh's efforts to defeat Rockefeller in Ohio oil regions contributed to the broader setback.

Rescuers also faced a cave in in the adjacent Pennsylvania railroad tunnel at Long Island City with men entombed and at risk of drowning from Newton Creek waters. Two men were later rescued exhausted from the site.
Washington December 19. Presidential nominations include L. M. Millicotts of Duluth Minnesota for Assistant Treasurer of the United States at Philadelphia and Samuel S. Barney of Wisconsin for judge of the court of claims.

William Ernest Marcher 31 a Racine native and University of Wisconsin engineering graduate died while returning home from Asheville North Carolina for burial. He had fallen ill last fall and requested to be brought to Racine for interment. The nurse concealed the death aboard the train until Chicago arrival to avoid removal of the body by the crew.

In county court this morning Mrs Otele Thompson of 1911 Charles St was arraigned on charges of assaulting J A Fosdick a Civil War veteran with a broomstick. Testimony from her husband corroborated his account and she was fined five dollars plus costs.
The state civil service law began December 15 and all appointments must follow it. On January 6, 1906, a competitive examination will be held for clerks bookkeepers deputy factory inspectors prison keepers guards game wardens hospital attendants steam engineers firemen readers. Applications to Michison before December 25. La Crosse exam board members listed. Some classes open to both sexes. Job salaries range from 400 to 2000 dollars with varying subject tests. One factory inspector position open to women. others for men. Examination fees and conditions specified.
La Follette handed his resignation to the Wisconsin legislature at the close of the special session. The move takes effect January 1 and he will assume a seat in the Senate after the Christmas recess.
William Jones of Bangor was brought before Judge Brindley on a charge for practicing medicine without a license under Wisconsin law. Dr A B Newton, head of a western Wisconsin doctors committee, filed the complaint. The case was adjourned to January 5 with Dr Umbrecht of Milwaukee named as special prosecutor.

Goeth has placed high in all contests and never first in a month. Roseneau placed third and Schandel earned top spots including a first month. Hed and others also ranked near the top of the series.
Henry P. Townsley president of the Life Association of America testified before the insurance committee about business conduct. He spoke in New York on December 19 concerning industry practices and oversight.

Frank Dubina of 1416 South Eighth street died at 10 this morning after a 15 day illness. He leaves a wife, two sons Joseph and Frank, and a daughter Mrs. Mary Merezka. Funeral Friday at 9 from St. Wenceslaus Church with Father Till officiating. Burial in Catholic cemetery.

A Santa Fe train derailed near Lang in Topeka Kansas after morning wreckers removed spikes angle bars and bolts. Express messenger Elmer Derrick died and five others were injured as the train plunged down a twenty foot embankment and burned. This marks the fifth attempted wreck of the same train.
