Menominee Bill Passes House and Heads to Nixon
The House approved a Senate bill to restore Menominee reservation status in northern Wisconsin and forwarded it to President Nixon. The measure backs government program access for the Menominee, with provisions for Wisconsin to decide county governance questions. Governor Lucey welcomed the reversal as just and needed. A separate La Crosse County case saw Roger A. Wells’ charge for contributing to the delinquency of minors dismissed for lack of evidence after an Onalaska party arrest.
