Madison Wis Dec 16 The Wisconsin railroad commission approved an issue of 150 million dollars in additional stock by the Chicago Milwaukee and St Paul railroad to finance an extension to the Pacific coast. The line had filed notice of the stock issue with the secretary of state and paid a substantial filing fee.
Chicago December hearing before Interstate Commerce Commissioner Lane probes Pullman berth rates. W J Underwood testifies first, detailing heavy expenses including $1,800,000 spent to clean and disinfect cars and $185,000 in bonuses to porters and conductors. Dean testimony notes tipping is voluntary and not encouraged by the company.
