Yesterday in Chicago cattle sales reached 25 000 with weakness across classes. Hogs totaled 45 000 and sheep 20 000 with price ranges noting weakness in most categories and varying grades from native to western sources.

Cattle sellers saw 22 000 head with steady prices across categories from bees to calves. Hogs traded around 30 000 head with steady pricing and a range from seven ninety five to eight fifty for lighter lots.
Rail stocks show strength in early New York market
In New York trading on December 16 the stock market opened with railroads firm and industrials wavering. Consolidated Gas rose two points while Southern Pacific Union Pacific and St Paul led gains early. By noon rails remained strong though prices gave back fractionally, Amalgamated Copper eyed bullishly. Afternoon trading turned dull with room traders active and steel and rail issues dominant.
