Madison dispatch reports State Waterway Commissioner Judge Ray S. Reid condemns current river improvements as wasteful and urges Wisconsin government to experimental consider new methods. He argues waterways should serve the river not the craft, favors government control of traffic and calls for rail and river systems to cooperate.

Attorneys for defendant deny timely filing. plaintiff asserts defendant’s actions excuse delay.
Mrs. James Peterson of Avon street wires Southampton for news of Anton Rosenberg missing after he vanished from the White Star liner Oceanic en route to Norway. A farmer near Elk Mound, Rosenberg left behind hat and vest found in a boat toilet, suggesting he went overboard.
President C. F. Moll of the W I league today wired The Tribune that reports Freeport’s franchise had been forfeited were untrue. Moll says a meeting will be held at Freeport tomorrow and the club desires to remain. He notes Appleton has raised 2500 and wishes to join, but decisions rest with next month’s directors meeting.
