Public review proposed over Nixon California taxes
Democratic official William M. Bennett seeks a public discussion at the Franchise Tax Board meeting Tuesday after questioning Nixon’s California residency for state income taxes. The board executive cautions that public discussion of an individual’s taxes is forbidden though permission could be sought. The White House says Nixon has residency in the District of Columbia for tax purposes, not California.

Tax loss could curb Wisconsin highway work
Thomas Hart of the Department of Transportation warned that a 30 percent cut in state gasoline taxes could total about 46 million dollars in the year ending June 30. If enacted, highway construction and maintenance would face reductions, with local units receiving about half of the revenue from the 7 cent per gallon tax. Each additional cent yields roughly 22 million dollars annually.
