Survived by wife Helen and children Ruth Wienke Margaret Toepel Helen Shuford Eugene Toepel five grandchildren and siblings. Funeral plans were not announced.

N H Rudie Vernon County Superintendent of Schools died at 2 am in a Viroqua hospital after a year of ill health. He began a four year term in July 1953 after being elected in April. Rudie, a 1914 La Crosse Normal School graduate, held multiple Wisconsin teaching and supervisory posts and earned a master’s degree in 1928.
